Hi there. I just found your website on Manx cats and am thoroughly enjoying it. I've also
learned why she, my "Missy", acts the way and does things she does.
Here's the story….. I live in a very nice, populated planned unit development in Knoxville, TN.
I have acres of woods behind me and enjoy the nightlife of all the wild animals around.
In the late summer, I noticed a black Manx in my front yard.
She was very shy, and I could tell she was a stray someone dropped
off; however I chose to feed her before and after my work day - she was so thin. She was grateful for anything
she could get to eat.
Around Halloween the weather started getting cold, and the thought of her being out in the cold made me
uneasy, and I also felt guilty. It took a couple of weeks sitting on the front porch motionless, but
eventually she became brave enough to eat the food I had put right
next to me. She always "trilled" at me when she saw me, came running when I called her, even before we became friends.
Eventually she started rubbing against me, hissing and love-bitting, running a few feet away and coming right back
to do it again. She was not only starved for food, she was starved for love and affection.
I have two calicos and never intended to have another cat, but Missy won my heart with her sweetness and
vunerability. She came into my home permanantly after a few short visits
in and out, and she's been there ever since, about three months. Someone apparently have abandoned her - just dropped her
off. She is declawed and I feel she would have eventually starved to death
if I hadn't taken her in. She is so affectionate, and cannot wait to get in my lap while I'm watching tv. I do
believe she would stay there all day if I never got up. She has turned out to be my companion,
and we have already bonded.
Truly, I believe God sent me this special blessing who I named Missy. She is solid black, a white
diamond shape under her chin, big green eyes, and about 1-1/2 years old. I'm so glad she chose me of all the people
I live around. It's a perfect match. She needs me and I'll always be there for her and
will take care of her.
Just wanted to share my story.
Thanks again for your great website!
Take care.
